Established in 1916, Piggly Wiggly is one of the leading self-service grocery store chains in the United States. Based in Wrightsville, Ga., the firm operates more than 600 stores and franchised locations in 17 states across the United States. It is responsible for issuing Piggly Wiggly franchises to independent grocery retailers. It also provides the retailers with services such as support, marketing programs and a line of promotional items. Additionally, the store offers apparel, collectibles and novelties as well as offer different recipes in the categories of appetizer, baking, beef, dairy, grains, organic, seafood, soups, among others. Piggly Wiggly is an affiliate of C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc., ranked as the 10th largest privately held company in the nation by Forbes magazine in 2010.
