We'll talk all things gaming!Legend of Zelda Fan Rumors were "Frustrating" according to Donkey Kong DevelopersWhen Eric Kozlowsky was hired by Retro Studios, it resulted in speculation suggesting that Retro Studios was in the process of developing the next Zelda game.

The artist had worked on the PlayStation's Uncharted series which, for reasons unknown, it made fans want to make a connection. But, Kozlowsky and Retro Studios were actually working on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in the beginning, and after it was finally revealed at the time, many Zelda fans trashed it because they were expecting something else. In a brand new interview with an interview on the Kiwi Talkz podcast, Kozlowsky exposed the source of the rumor that caused anger for the team working on the game.

"Sometimes it's frustrating because it creates [false expectations]. This was the case when we first announced Tropical Freeze. It was saying 'they're working hard on something like a Zelda game, they're working on one Zelda game', but it wasn't. We've announced Tropical Freeze and it looks amazing and is gorgeous and then people think "Oh, but it's a different Donkey Kong.'

And then you find out that people are s**ting on it on Neogaf , or whatnot, and you're all like 'oh okay, well, everyone believed we were playing something similar to a Zelda game. And then you realize we're not doing that. we do.' It's both: sometimes we laugh at it, but it can also be irritating when it lasts a longer," said Kozlowsky.

Kozlowsky's statements are an interesting insight into the way rumors are spread, and how that can adversely affect a game's popularity. While Tropical Freeze might not have been the game people were hoping to hear about however, it was praised by the critics with high appreciation upon its launch.
