That's all well and good. The problem is when you combine selling spins to make real money, you also give the opportunity to win skill lamps in exchange to win a reward. The hypocrisy is more annoying. Jagex is known for committing bloody murders at those who participate in RWT. Yet Jagex has their own RWT scheme.
Yes, I did read OP. However, I did add an additional angle to the question. If the list of bullet points was accurate, would you agree that the SoF should be shut down or replaced? Jagex is working to prevent (at the very least) three strikes in an extremely competitive field.
A classic (10plus years old) game that, even with frequent updates and changes throughout the years, is considered to be a classic, and not the "next biggest thing" (like MOH & Counterstrike – still a lot of players, but neither are frequently maintained, aside from servers online which are usually player responsibilities).
Runescape has been viewed as "a kiddies/starter MMORPG" by many gamers. Like in point 1 the regular maintenance of the game and upgrades over time have disproved this notion. A lot of people don't bother to look at the game due to what they've heard/read.
