Russell Westbrook's first homecoming game with the Los Angeles Lakers did not take as planned. The Lakers' star started the season with total of 86 but then slowly fell after a lack of consistency throughout the season. His former MVP of the league is now 78 overall, the third-highest on the team and where the season ended at 2K22. You're not likely to hear many people argue to suggest that he's no longer the player he was in 2016. but it seems rather harsh to bring him down from 78 to just 78 after a single season. The shot IQ of his team is 25 which is tied for the most low score in the game although it's not really surprising.
If you want to compare the two, players rated 78 overall include Patrick Beverley, Westbrook's new teammate, Cole Anthony, Jakob Poeltl and rookies Paolo Banchero and Jabari Smith Jr. Perhaps Westbrook should've started off somewhere between 80-83? This isn't one to be snubbed, but more of an "How does he keep getting high ratings?"
What kind of snub is there for other players. Porzi? The numbers are solid, however, when you see him, it's evident he's a shell of his pre-ACL tear self. That's the reason his team, the Dallas Mavericks moved on from his. After posting impressive numbers (22.1 scores, 8.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists in a shooting 48-37-87 break) over 17 contests for the Washington Wizards, Porzi? is now 85 overall average in 2K23 despite beginning 2K22 as 84 overall.
Westbrook was hit hard for a season that was subpar, however, Porzi? continues to be a force following a run of 17 games. In addition Siakam fell, despite doing things that carried more substance. Porzi? has also received higher ratings over Klay Thompson, Draymond Green Fred VanVleet and De'Aaron Fox just to name just a handful of players. We'll see what this rating will change as the season progresses, but plenty of stars have been omitted from a better rating.
