Increasing the scope of this effect to all areas of RuneScape

I've been off RS for around 3 years and am trying to get back. I've read up on many of the latest releases during my absence, and am now beginning to figure things out, slightly. I noticed that Dual Wielding has been released, and had some questions.

When I played in the past the game, I played with an Abyssal Whip & a Dragon Defender. Seeing as Dual Wielding has now been released I was thinking whether it's better to use an offhand weapon as opposed to the Defender. That brings this to the second question I have.

Which weapon offhand should I use if Dual Wielding? I thought I'd use the Abyssal Whip offhand duplicate I wouldn't be able to attain at the moment due to my lack of skills. So I decided either one of a Dragon Scimitar or a Dragon Dagger was the most appropriate however I could be entirely wrong.

If there is a choice between Dragon Dagger & Dragon Scimitar for an offhand weapon do I know which to pick? The reason I'm asking is because after checking Runescape Wiki, it says that both Dagger & Scimitar have exactly the same Damage (576) and Accuracy (1132). It's up to your preference of which you prefer the look of or different? I was noticing how the Dagger is much less expensive however, and I was wondering why you'd select the Dagger over the Scimitar.

I'm sure I've asked lots of questions, but I'm back! I've recently leveled up to 70 defence. Then my plan is to get the three melee skills to 70 before taking breaks. Att as well as Def are at 70 now while Str is at 65.
