We've broken our promise to release the game
What's up with Wilson and his fans, who were flooded with thousands and thousands of furious comments following the release of Diablo. "Josh was very close with Jay," says Mayberry. "I've had the privilege of knowing Jay fora while. I was a part of bringing Jay to Blizzard and I've been with Jay for more than twenty years. The fans seem to want to build a rivalry between the two. There's no rivalry whatsoever."
There is no way that Blizzard will ever use terms like mistake mistakes, regret or even error when it comes to Diablo, but the message is clear to me that the team is quick to praise the positive aspects of what's changed but hasn't been seen as mourning for the loss of what's gone.
"I am aware that some of you think we've broken our promise to release the game "when it's done"" posted Wilson on Blizzard's forums when the developer announced that he would step away from Diablo at the beginning of 2013.
"While we're not perfect, we endeavor to come up with the highest quality decisions that we can using the information and information available at the time. This doesn't mean that we never make the right decisions however, if we did make a mistake then I feel we've done our best to rectify it."
The only thing to know is the outcome of whether Reaper of Souls will be loved by the 280.000 vocal fans in a way that the Diablo was the first time. Diablo was not. "It's difficult to pinpoint what ideas came from and where they didn't come from," states Mayberry. "I believe Jay had the harder challenge of just getting Diablo out. That affected Jay and, I think for Josh, he's come in this time and assisted in putting the next layer of. I think that they've all done excellent job."
