Let me give you an example. If you think about Warcraft, which is our longest-running IP which has supported the biggest MMO as well as real-time strategy games, and has supported a collectible card game. That's a variety of kinds of games that emerged from the same IP. Moreover, we think there's lots of room for games, and different types of games, with our existing IP. But, I'm convinced that you're taking on part of the player's perception, of player expectations whenever you're talking about creating games on an entirely new platform. For sure.
Is that kind of design and development model sustainable or feasible in the sense of a business? The concept of Diablo is in existence because of this lengthy phase of having Titan developing, tweaking it, and having the ups and downs of development. The end result after a long time is a game with huge and extensive presence. But are you able to have that same cycle for each project?
I don't know that we at Blizzard have a choice but to follow this path. I'm not sure if there's a different way to go for Blizzard. We truly believe that the team's leadership needs faith in and has an idea for the game they believe could be great. It's a bottom-up method of operating.
I believe that there are many ways of thinking about the best way to achieve this target, but our intentions are very similar, and closely aligned to them.
Fans would like to see many more StarCraft games. I'm a fan, I also want more StarCraft games. Fans want greater Diablo games. I'm a big fan, and I would like to see more Diablo games. Fans want new IP and me too.
One final question: given the phenomenal success in World of Warcraft and now of Classic are there any intentions to investigate consoles for World of Warcraft? When it first came out, there weren't that many successful MMOs that were available for consoles. But nowadays there's Final Fantasy XIV and a few others. It's a great time to try and explore the possibilities. Is it something that you're interested in?
That's a good question. To me, when we're talking about games the camera and controls are fundamentally key about any type gameplay experience. What cameras are they? What controls are there? Also, when I think about World of Warcraft, it was specifically designed for users with a mouse and keyboard experience.
