
Covering about 1,590 acres of land area, the picturesque Woods Bay State Park is known for encompassing one of the last standing Carolina Bays. The landscape is dominated by sandhills, marshes, shrub bogs and an oak-hickory forest. A wooden boardwalk runs through the green foliage, allowing visitors a view of their incredible surroundings. Alligators can often be glimpsed in the swamp. Trails winding through the forest are flanked by towering trees, and visitors can indulge in activities like bird-watching, hiking, geocaching, picnicking and fishing, Kayaks and canoes can be rowed along the channel of the tranquil bay.
