Toomer's Drugs is an institution of the city. A disarmingly simple establishment, Toomer's Drugs has occupied its iconic location since 1896, and has stood strong ground in spite for several adversities. Started by pharmacist, Sheldon Toomer, Toomer's Drugs saw a decline in business in 1999 after which the store was brought out by the Haistens. This husband and wife duo have since been instrumental in the smooth functioning of the store that is also a lovely diner. Come here on a warm afternoon to enjoy a jar or two of their legendary lemonade; it has earned quite a repute among locals and visitors alike. They also serve scrumptious grilled cheese sandwiches and their ice creams have a fan following of their own. In addition, this is a great spot to pick up souvenirs for any Auburn Tigers fan. A piece of local trivia- do not be alarmed if you see the corner clad in toilet paper, it just means that some good news has charmed the city.
