4013 S Douglas Rd, Biscayne Bay, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, FL, 33133
With a location in the heart of the city on Biscayne Bay, The Kampong is a hidden gem. Dr. David Fairchild, the Columbus of American Horticulture, used it as a winter home. Its name means 'village' in Javanese. Dr. Fairchild had traveled many times to Java collecting plants and flowers. The collection assembled includes exotic plants, flowers, and fruits from Southeast Asia, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. Visitors can go at their own pace or engage in private tours. Please bring comfortable walking shoes, mosquito repellent, a hat for shade, and bottled water. An absolute must when in Miami, this garden is like being in another world: fresh, fragrant, and beautiful!
