The Steele Creek Presbyterian Church was among the first few churches that were founded by Scottish-Irish settlers in 1760. The current brick sanctuary was built circa 1889 in a Gothic Revival style and is one of the oldest churches in Mecklenburg County. The cemetery contains tombstones dating back to 1763 with some beautiful examples of carved headstones. The Steele Creek Presbyterian Church and Cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
