
It is not about trying harder. Do you relax just a bit when you read those words? Do you sometimes feel that there is a hole inside that you are trying to fill? Do you hurt because you try really hard and it never feels good enough? You are not alone in feeling this way. I understand what this is about because the answers frequently do not come in the way that we are told or taught that they do. We can believe that it will get better if we just try harder. All of us have times when it feels as if we cannot cope. We may feel depressed, anxious, helpless, sad and/or angry. We may want to run away, just give up, distract ourselves or blame others. We can hit these times at any period but especially at life transitions - both good and bad - divorce, job change, birth of a child or launching of a child, death of a loved one or even a significant birthday.
