Richmond County Sheriff's Office s mission is to protect life and property, through the maintenance of peace and order and the provision of law enforcement services. The office s units comprise of the criminal investigation division, jails division, uniform division and special operations unit. The criminal investigation division is divided into sections, such as the administrative, motor vehicle theft section, narcotics section, property crimes section, technical crimes section and violent crimes section. Special operations units of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office include the crime suppression team, task force, the motorcycle/traffic squad, the weed and seed unit, the safety patrol and housing unit squads.
