McShin Foundation is a non-profit, full-service Recovery Community Organization (RCO) committed to serving individuals and families in their fight against Substance Use Disorders. The McShin Foundation was founded in 2004 by husband and wife duo John Shinholser and Carol McDaid to fill a void they saw in the care of Richmonders seeking recovery. Focused on recovery and led by peers in recovery, we aim to promote change in the lives of Virginians through our full spectrum of services. Our mission is to help build strong, self-sufficient communities through education, advocacy, and support for individuals who are in recovery from substance use disorders through the evidence-based practice of Peer-to-Peer Recovery Support Services and Richmond recovery housing that offer opportunities for personal growth, service to others, and social interaction.
