Current Midwest was founded in 1988 by Tom Engwert, who began his career selling welders and electric motors at Lincoln Electric. Early in his career, Tom identified a need for quality reconditioned industrial equipment and started an electric motor repair business out of his garage.
Current Midwest started selling new and reconditioned electric motors with a focus on fast reliable service and has since expanded its product line to include transformers, bus plugs and bus ducts, custom control panels, circuit breakers, cooling towers, and other industrial equipment.
Current Midwest opened its US headquarters in Michigan City on January 1, 2010. Situated on 3 acres near major US interstates, its 10,000 sq. ft warehouse allows Current Midwest to streamline its operations for fast and immediate service. Daily UPS pickups ensure shipping is quick and timely.
Current Midwest has worked with many different manufacturing industries ranging from steel and plastics to whiskey, organic farming, rubber wheels, and even buttons. We have talked to people in these industries about their manufacturing process and how they do what they do. We are always curious about how things are made and how we can transfer our experience in one industry to another.
