The first documented library in Sour Lake was organized by the Women's Club in 1937. On April 17, 1952 the library was re-established as the Alma M. Carpenter Public Library. Since then we have served as the central library facility in Sour Lake, TX. Our collection contains over 15,000 volumes and circulates roughly 1,000 items per year to a population of 2,200 residents.
