Swept Source Laser For OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography)


Swept source laser is a type of laser in which the output wavelength is adjustable over a wide range of wavelengths. The laser is focused on a particular wavelength and is "swept" over a range of wavelengths. This is useful for rapidly capturing spectral data, such as in spectroscopy and (especially) in Fourier-domain optical coherence tomography.

There are numerous applications of the SS-OCT system. The higher penetration intensity observed has made it easier to view the choroid. It plays a crucial role in central serous chorioretinopathy and uveitis.
